In the 1980s, foreign hydraulic press technology entered China, injecting a new vitality into the domestic cocoa pressing industry. Shanghai Grain and Oil Industry Company, in collaboration with numerous large oil and fat factories, has jointly designed a cocoa oil press that belongs to China, pioneering the domestic cocoa industry. Under the design thinking at that time, this hydraulic press adopted a structure of four cylinders.

At that time, more than ten horizontal presses were produced. Distributed in units such as Shanghai No.4 Oil and Fat Factory and Wuxi Vegetable Oil Factory, it is also applied to the pressing of other high-fat materials: sesame, walnut, peanut and other industries. The product quality is superior to other pressing methods. The main parameters of the equipment are: total pressure of the press: 1400 tons, main cylinder oil pressure of 350kg/cm ², 10 press cylinders, and a weight of up to 40t. The daily processing capacity can reach 8-10 tons. Residual oil can be controlled below 12%. With the changes in the domestic cocoa industry, in the early 1920s, Wuxi Cocoa Factory began designing and manufacturing hydraulic presses with two cylinders, which were successfully applied in the cocoa processing industry.

In 2011, based on the complete production line of Shanghai Shende Cocoa, Wuxi Cocoa Factory designed and manufactured a 14 cylinder hydraulic press, which was successfully applied in the factory and greatly improved production efficiency.
At present, domestic cocoa hydraulic presses are mainly distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Zhenjiang and other places.
Currently, domestic enterprises such as CHOCOMACH can produce fully automatic hydraulic oil presses with 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, and 22 cylinders, which are used in various high-fat industries.
